The Special Appeals Court has uncovered its official judgment against ex-minister of interior Saimir Tahiri.

In a 280-page written report, the court stated that the wiretaps that disclosed the suspects talking about the former minister have served as substantial evidence.

Amongst other things, the court also stated that the former minister’s connection to the Habilaj criminal group has also served as further evidence which convinced prosecutors that Tahiri used his high public function to facilitate the group’s criminal activities.

On an earlier account, Tahiri’s defense lawyer said that after the judgment against his client is made official, they would be heading to the High Court to appeal his verdict.

Tahiri was sentenced to 5 years in prison on several counts of ‘abuse of power’ – but after summary conviction, his sentence was ultimately converted to 3 years and 4 months.
