Saranda’s former District Prosecutor Sali Hasa was sentenced to 2 years in prison for corruption, but his sentence was converted to 4 years on probation.
The Special Court also decided that Hasa won’t be able to hold any public functions for the next 5 years.
Meanwhile, he was declared innocent on the charge of ‘hiding and not declaring personal wealth’.
After the court’s decision, Hasa is expected to be released from prison.
He was arrested around a year ago, after SPAK accused the former prosecutor of accepting an unspecified sum of money from citizen Elsiona Papa, in exchange for closing her brother Emiljan Mirjani’s case. Mirjani was accused of violent assault.
