COVID-19 claimed the lives of 3 citizens on Saturday, taking the official death toll to 3,265.
Health authorities reported 2,163 new infections, with Albania’s total case count estimated at 230,940.
Most of the new infections were detected in the Albanian capital, Tirana, whose active cases almost topped 10,000 on Saturday.
Hospitalizations have also seen a slight increase in the past weeks. According to health authorities, 148 patients are being treated at the hospital.
The Western Balkan nation has been reporting record-high figures in the past weeks, with authorities putting the blame on the highly transmissible Omicron variant as well as end-year festivities.
