Albania recorded 8 deaths from COVID-19 in a single day, taking the official death toll to 3,305.

New infections dropped to 1,658 after several days of more than 2,000 new single-day cases. 248,070 citizens have tested positive in Albania from the beginning of the outbreak.

Active coronavirus cases are estimated at over 24,000, of which around a half are in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

Albania ranks fifth in the Western Balkans in terms of vaccination rates, with around 39% of its population fully inoculated.

Every person older than 16 can get the jab at any nearby public health clinic.

According to a tally kept by national health authorities, 3,305 people have died from COVID-19 in Albania.
