In Albania, every person older than 16 is entitled to the COVID-19 vaccine, however vaccination rates remain below the EU’s average.
Health minister Ogerta Manastirliu said on Monday that the government has secured an additional 3 million vaccine doses.
She also explained that the main goal is to push the vaccination drive to curb the spread of the virus ahead of end-of-the-year festivities.
The health minister said that a group of experts is currently assessing the epidemiological situation to determine whether it is necessary to introduce tougher measures.
