During his briefing for the Security Commission, the minister of defense, Niko Peleshi spoke regarding a rise in cybernetic crime.
“Cybercrimes against our institutions, be them private or public, have become a daily endeavor, taking place in the tens and hundreds,” – said Peleshi.
As a result, the minister said that a special unit of defense against cybernetic crimes that will operate on a 24/7 basis, will be set up by the government and young professionals will be recruited using decent monthly salaries as an incentive.
“On the receiving side, our defense is a delicate matter but luckily, we have planned a crucially important project, in collaboration with our strategic partner, the United States, that is valued at 18 million euros. We will also be setting up a Military Division of Cybernetic Defense,” – added Peleshi.
In an earlier interview for Euronews Albania, minister Peleshi declared that these cyber-attacks are most likely related to geo-strategic interests.
