Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the death of four American soldiers during a military exercise in Lithuania.

In a message posted on X, Rama expressed his condolences for the loss of life, emphasizing that Albania stands by the United States and its Commander-in-Chief.

“Tragic news from Lithuania. The loss of American soldiers during the recent military exercise is a painful reminder of the dangers faced by those who serve. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families. As always, Albania stands by the United States and its Commander-in-Chief,” Rama wrote.

Three of the four American soldiers who had been missing in Lithuania since last week were found dead on Monday, the U.S. Army said, after rescue teams managed to extract an armored vehicle from a swamp.

Lithuanian authorities reported last Tuesday that the soldiers had gone missing during a military training exercise at a facility in the eastern city of Pabradė, near the border with Belarus.

Search and rescue teams worked with heavy equipment and excavators to remove the mud from the water-filled vehicle before retrieving the soldiers’ bodies.

“Three American soldiers were found dead today in Lithuania,” said the U.S. Army Europe and Africa in an official statement.
