On the International Day of Democracy, the US embassy in Albania has distributed a message, where it emphasizes the new challenges facing democratic systems around the world.

According to the American embassy, ​​artificial intelligence has taken on a new role in governance in the last year.

“While AI can increase participation and equality, it also presents risks such as misinformation and hate speech. The effective governance of AI is essential to ensure its benefits for all”, in the message distributed by the American diplomatic headquarters in Tirana.

International Democracy Day highlights the need to protect free speech, civil liberties and human rights, especially during elections around the world.

This date was established in 2007, with the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations, which encourages governments to strengthen national programs for the promotion and consolidation of democracy.
