The leadership of the Democratic of Kosovo decided that they’ll be holding the Convent for the election of the new chair of the party, on July 3rd 2021.

PDK’s decision was preceded by a long debate on all levels of the party, that began immediately after the wrap-up of the snap parliamentary elections that took place on February 14th.

The leadership organized the different bodies of the party to immediately start preparations for the organization of the next Electoral Convent.

Since November 2020, PDK doesn’t have an officially elected leader, but Enver Hoxhaj was appointed in the executive role, because Kadri Veseli resigned after the confirmation of the accusations weighing against him, by the Special Court.

The former Chair of PDK was arrested by the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor on November 5th 2020, and was then transferred to Kosovo’s Specialized Chambers in The Hague.

The former high official and leader of the UÇK or KLA (Kosovo’s Liberation Army) is being accused of war crimes, unlawful or arbitrary detention, miserable treatment, torture and crimes against humanity, which according to the Specialized Chambers, were committed in the period between March 1998 to September 1999.
