The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias said Greece supports Albania’s bid in becoming a member of the European Union and launching accession negotiations.

The statement came on Monday during a joint press conference with his Albanian counterpart Olta Xhacka in Tirana.

Dendias also said Greece supports North Macedonia, adding that the perspective of the Western Balkans should be the European Union.

“I would like to also refer to Albania’s European perspective. Greece fully supports opening accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia. It is absolutely predisposed to offer its technical assistance”.

“We think that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is a one-way path”, said the Greek foreign minister.

Deepening bilateral cooperation, the energy sector, and war in Ukraine were some of the topics discussed with Xhacka, Dendias said in a status shared on Twitter.
