Difference between SP-DP tightens in Durres, SMI loses support of 2017

The fourth survey conducted by MRB in collaboration with Euronews Albania shows that if the parliamentary elections were to be held on Sunday, then the race between the Socialist and Democratic Party for the district county of Durres would be very tight.

When asked regarding which political party they would vote for, 41.1% were in favor of SP while 38.2% in favor of DP, bringing the total difference to a mere 2.9%. On the other hand, SMI has only received 5.1% of the support from respondents, whereas other political forces have received a combined 4.6%.

Out of all participants, 7.4% were still undecided about which party they would support, 2.4% said they won’t participate in the elections at all, whereas 1.2% have refused to disclose, who their vote would go to.

Voting trend:

SP – 41.1%

DP – 38.2%

SMI – 5.1%

Compared to the last survey, SP has seen a drop from 43.3% to 41.1%, whereas DP has seen a rise from 36.9% to 38.2%. In Durres, compared to the support received by each party on a national level, DP get 3% more, while SP gets 2% less.

According to the analysis of the answers given by undecided voters to other questions in the survey, the result is estimated to be 46.2% for SP, 42.9% for DP and 5.7% for SMI, while 5.2% of votes would go to other parties.

Based on the projections of our last survey, the 14 mandates of the district county of Durres would be divided equally between SP and DP.

Seat distribution:

SP – 7 seats

DP – 7 seats

Compared to the projections of the first survey, there is a decline in the difference between the SP and DP from 7.2% to 3.3%. In terms of SMI, there is a drop from 6.1% to 5.7%, while other parties have seen a rise from 2.9% to 5.2%.

The results of the 2017 elections were 8 seats for SP, 4 for DP and 2 for SMI, which in the last elections was able to secure 15% of the votes in this district county.

Methodology

For the survey in the district county of Durres, 425 face-to-face interviews were conducted, during the timespan March 27th- March 31st. All participants were adults over 18, 49.8% of whom where male and 50.2%, female
