Albania has great potential, as well as opportunity, to benefit from the digital transformation, whose influence has also enhanced due to the pandemic. This was one of the statements made by Serpil Timuray, the General Director of Vodafone Europe, during an interview with Euronews Albania.
According to Timuray, a form of “thirstiness” can be noted in Albania when it comes to technological evolutions, huge market opportunities, and a myriad of brand-new talents. In light of that, Vodafone sees Albania as a country with a great potential for building one of Europe’s three digital laboratories working for this enterprise, and a good way to employ young talents.
“A strategic contribution in Albania is the transformation of your country into ‘the house of our talents’ where on one side we grow Albanian talents that can also work abroad, but also bring international talents in Albania so that they can learn from this market and take this learning to other markets”, said Timuray.
Technology and telecommunication sectors are crucial for the economic development of the country and this telecommunication network is preparing for a digital future, making large investments in order to have a faster network, since nowadays speed is key.
Serpil Timuray said that Vodafone is looking forward to a digital society, and for that, it has compiled a program, where Albania is a part of. The objective of this program is also to cultivate the digital skills of 16 million students until 2027. In addition, the company wants to support and employ more women.
“We launched an expansion of this program, which will target reaching 16 million digital learners by 2027. One of our most important targets is to support women, both women in the workforce, but also women in society. Albania is a showcase of great initiatives that we are doing towards women, one of them being ‘Brightsky’, which is supporting women that are under the threat of violence, not particularly domestic violence, through our technology”, said Timuray.
One of the priorities of Vodafone is its contribution toward protecting the environment.
