OSCE presence in Tirana organized a 3-day conference on the involuntary and enforced disappearances that took place during the communist regime in Albania.

Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco focused on the fact that over 600,000 people went missing during communism and that cases have remained unsolved in these 30 years.

Much ado about nothing! – this is what OSCE ambassador to Tirana, Vincenzo Del Monaco said about the Albanian state’s plan of action over these past 30 years when it comes to the issue of the disappearances during Enver Hoxha’s rule.

According to the ambassador, there’s been a lot of talk from each respective administration, about finding and identifying the missing persons but not even a single case has been solved.

The conference is organized by OSCE in Tirana and the University of Tirana, with the support of the German government, from December 13 – 15. The main issues to be discussed include Albania’s transitory justice and experience.
