Doctors from the Trauma Hospital have once again taken it to the streets to protest against the arrest of their two colleagues accused of accepting bribes.
Doctor Gent Stroni said that his arrested colleagues are being treated unfairly and that they should be freed until convincing evidence can be procured.
“No show trials for doctors. Find the evidence first then keep them in jail. Justice is overstepping the rights of the citizens. Don’t forget that these doctors are an asset, who are ready to do surgeries every day”, said Dr. Stroni.
He also raised concern over a lack of staff in hospitals, adding that it is yet another reason why his colleagues should be freed.
“We have a medical staff shortage here and they throw doctors to jail without even any evidence”, said Dr.Stroni, “Those two do not belong there”.
“Every single one of us should deal with the justice in case of a corruptive affair, but until it is proven so and these people are not a danger to the public, then why keep them in jail”.
Two doctors were arrested on corruption charges after allegedly accepting a bribe from a 17-year-old patient stabbed during a large incident in Velipoja that left 4 dead and 2 wounded.
