The Democratic Party is taking the Albanian government to the Constitutional Court on two separate issues before the end year. The first lawsuit is connected to alleged abuses with the post-earthquake reconstruction program. A second one is against a law on co-governance initiated by the government.

The recent developments were confirmed by DP leader Lulzim Basha during a press conference held at the party’s headquarters.

“We will present the case on tender abuses with the earthquake fond to the Constitutional Court by December and bring new evidence about the corruption taking place with reconstruction tenders”, declared Basha.

Lulzim Basha referred to the co-governance law as a “dual criminal act” that would waste the pockets of Albanian citizens “instead of creating a monitoring structure”.

Speaking about the recent scandal with an incinerator corruptive affair that brought former environment minister behind the bars, Basha blamed PM Edi Rama as the main person responsible.

He also denounced the parliament’s setback on the investment law, casting doubt that it might be “another corruptive affair”.

“This law bestows Albanian oligarchs with the right to plunder property to launder money acquired from drug businesses or government corruption”, said Basha.
