The Democratic Party has already started to take the necessary precautions against meddling with the ballots.
The party has established a special structure that will identify and refer all violations to the Electoral Code.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, the chief of this structure explains its main objective and how it will work out.
“It is a structure assembled by the best local jurists and professionals from various sectors. The main focus is the monitoring and assessment of the violations and then their referral to the Central Election Commission, regional prosecution offices, and SPAK”, said Marinela Ziu.
Up until now, the structure has identified several cases and submitted them to CEC and law enforcement organs.
“There are around 50 cases that have been filed to regional prosecution offices and 19 at SPAK”, revealed Ziu.
She listed among the most common violations usage of public assets and the administration for electoral campaign purposes and added that many criminal elements have also been identified in the electoral process.
Furthermore, she explained that the structure will also be focused on election day and the vote-counting process.
