‘He came out publicly and denounced events that never happened’. This was the statement made by the acting mayor of Durres, Emiriana Sako on Euronews Albania, regarding the dismissal of the former deputy mayor of Durres, Arber Braho.
Sako went on the explain that this has been the main reason for his dismissal, but did however underline that her institution is open to receiving relevant information.
“The deputy mayor of Durres has spoken in the media and made several public denouncements. The municipality is an open institution. It’s not a bunker, where no one can get a single piece of information. We collaborate and get constant requests from citizens, journalists; we have the right to information, the right to co-governance, which we continuously provide daily answers for through dozens of documents. The municipality isn’t a closed off institution,” – she said.
In addition, the acting mayor of Durres said that Mr. Braho should direct his denouements in the appropriate institutions.
Arber Braho was fired on November 10, but his notice of dismissal doesn’t provide any reasons for this direct action.
Sources near Euronews Albania have said that this decision came after several recent clashes between Braho and the former mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako.
The former deputy mayor accuses Dako of influencing the municipality’s decision-making, all the while accusing him of being involved in the world of crime.
The son of the Socialist MP, Spartak Braho, was employed as the deputy mayor of Durres since 2013.
