€1 million a day for energy, Albania imports 1/3 of its consumption needs

The summer season and the European Union’s agreement for an all-out embargo on Russian oil and gas have dealt their first major blow to energy markets.

The price for 1 megawatt an hour of electricity went up by 30% since Saturday, thus reaching €220 euros.

Albania is importing around one-third of its consumption needs which has brought up the cost of our energy purchases to 1 million euros per day.

For just the 5 first days of June, the Electro-Energetic Corporation has bought 5 million euros worth of energy, with an average price of 227 euros/megawatt-hour.

The daily production levels of Drin account for 6 000 megawatts per day.

The level of Fierza is 288 meters with an average inflow of 140 m3/s.

Our domestic hydric reserves have doubled since March – reaching 1047 gigawatts. With the current amount, our country can fulfill its supply needs without any interference for 2 months.
