€17.7 million in economic damages, State Supreme Audit: We’re auditing the post-earthquake and pandemic situation

According to the State Supreme Audit, the financial loss in 2021 is estimated at €17.7 million.

During a hearing in parliament, the director of the highest institution of economic and financial control in the country Arben Shehu declared that they are reviewing how were the finances handled after the earthquake as well as the pandemic.

In 2020, the institution audited 91 public institutions, such as various ministries and government agencies, and pointed out that the financial losses add up to €17.1 million.

Annual data were discussed during a session of the parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance, which also carried out an evaluation on the performance of the Supreme State Audit.

The State Supreme Audit announced that it had planned to audit 145 intuitions in 2020, a figure that dropped by 73 due to the pandemic.

After the plenary session, MPs approved the report.
