The European Commission will release on Tuesday the annual country-specific enlargement reports, including the one on Kosovo, which will be directly delivered to PM Albin Kurti.

The EU Commissioner on Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi is set to hold a press conference later during the day.

On Monday, EU’s diplomacy chief Josep Borrell called on the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to return to the dialogue.

“During these days we have had a very difficult situation in the border between Kosovo and Serbia. I have been talking twice with President Vučić and Prime Minister Kurti. And recent events and the agreement of 30 September show that our EU-facilitated Dialogue is the only way forward. And I have been calling on the two of them to go back to a situation in which the dialogue can resume”, Borrell said.

At the Foreign Affairs Council monthly meeting held in Luxemburg, Borrell also briefed the bloc’s foreign ministers on the recent developments in northern Kosovo, as well as what was discussed with regional leaders at the EU-Western Balkans summit in Brdo, Slovenia.

Borrell was recently involved in a row with the government of Kosovo for criticizing the intervention in the north, stating that “such activities must be coordinated”.

Kosovo’s government responded instead that tackling illegal smuggling and law enforcement are strictly domestic matters.
