The Democratic MP, Agron Gjekmarkaj, responded to critics, who have accused him of collaborating with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

During an interview on Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’ with Erla Mehilli, Gjekmarkaj said that he does not belong to that breed of politicians while adding that those who have accused him do not have the moral character or authority to make a judgment about him.

“What I had to say about all the events, about the history of the Democratic Party in 32 years, about its relationship with the past and the future, about democratization, its transformation into an asset of the voters, its relations with the US, I’ve said it all and there’s no need to repeat it because I don’t want to hurt people. We are two parts of a whole, the Democratic Party is a whole.

I don’t want to fan the fire of division, so that tomorrow they can find a cause or a reason in my words, and say that I was against unity, against a common candidate, or as is often said: he’s serving Edi Rama, he’s bought off, he’s bribed.  It makes me laugh because some man comes out, says he is sold, he is bought, and thinks he has the moral grounds and authority to do so. I do not belong to this breed of politicians, said Gjekmarkaj.
