The road expert, Islam Qibini, said in an interview for Euronews Albania that educational or correctional drones will be mainly used in those road segments that are considered problematic and were put into use in the second half of 2022.
In addition, he said that they were initially used to monitor the cultivation of cannabis, while later on, it was deemed reasonable to use them in monitoring drivers’ compliance with road traffic rules.
Qibini mentioned roundabouts and intersections where one should be very careful and give priority to vehicles from the left.
“Also on the pedestrian crossing lines. It is like a black spot because the trajectory between the movement of pedestrians and the movement of vehicles is interrupted. It is here that you should be very careful because the drivers of the vehicles must stop at the pedestrian crossings, they must give priority to the citizens crossing the road” said the expert.
According to Qibin, these educational drones have had a positive effect since the number of accidents from 19.3 percent, which was due to the violation of road traffic rules, has decreased by about 13.7 percent.
