As poll hours officially closed, State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi declared that biometric identification devices were not implemented in less than 200 out of 5199 voting places.

“There are less than 200 voting centers, where electronic identification was not put to use, in 86 of them because operators did not show up, while at the other ones due to various issues encountered”, said Celibashi.

Commissioner Celibashi described the implementation of technology at these elections as “successful” and praised deputy commissioner Lealba Pelingu for her dedication to guaranteeing a smooth process.

Furthermore, the head of CEC said that the entire process went well, apart from a few incidents recorded.

“The voting process was in compliance with the Electoral Code”, concluded Celibashi.
