The OSCE presence in Albania has come out with a statement in support of the recent appeal of the State’s Commissioner for the Elections, Ilirjan Celibashi, concerning political parties, where he has asked for self-control during the electoral campaign leading up to April 25th.
“The elections are for the citizens, political parties should exhibit maturity and self-control,” appealed the head of CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi.
According to OSCE, political parties should respect the regulations of political activities and not use public resources for electoral purposes.
“The presence of OSCE in Albania supports the recent statements of the State Commissioner for the Elections, Ilirjan Celibashi concerning the behavior of political parties and institutions during the electoral campaigns for the general elections of April 25th. The compliance to the legislative dispositions for the elections, the prohibition of the use of public resources, the correct conduct of institutions, including those from the local government, as well as the orderly organization of political activities, are all considered fundamental preconditions for a modern electoral process, which is also in accordance to the recommendations of the OSCE/ODHIR” writes OSCE presence in Albania.
