The situation appears calmer on the beach of Himara after the tragic boat accident that took the life of a 7-year-old girl as she was swimming close to the shore, but the number of vacationers continues to be low as flowers and a doll have been placed close to where the minor died.
Euronews Albana journalist, Ardit Hoxha, who reported from the beach of Potam, said that the only water vehicles on Thursday were those of the police who carried out patrols and non-motorized boats.
Journalist Hoxha said that he had been able to contact various businesses in Himara and the entire South coast, who had confirmed that many people have closed them or postponed their vacations after the tragedy that occurred two days ago on Potami beach which seems to have shocked everyone.
A 7-year-old girl died at noon on August 2 in Himare, while resting with her family on Potami beach. The minor was hit to death while on the shore, by a speedboat driven by citizen Arjan Tase.
Arjan Tase, former head of the police station of Himara, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
In his testimony, Tase explained that the dinghy he was driving started to gain speed unexpectedly and made an involuntary 360-degree turn, before eventually hitting the minor who died immediately at the scene from injuries she suffered during the accident.
