Prime Minister Edi Rama has revealed the reasons why we could be returning to the price band for energy consumption.
In an interview for “Now” on Euronews Albania, Rama emphasized that the moment energy consumption goes beyond a certain level, then the need for subsidies increases, and as a result, it is necessary to return to the price band.
“We have done all the necessary analysis and consultations. Considering that in all cases the price of energy that goes to households and small businesses is subsidized, we are very clear about what we have to do to subsidize it. At the moment when consumption goes beyond a certain level and the need for subsidy increases, then it will be necessary to return to the price band.
It is not our invention either; Kosovo has had the 800 KW band for a long time now. This is an issue related to the need to save and the need to balance, on the one hand, and the need to stay close to all families, and have those who consume more pay more,” said Rama.
