The Association, according to the deputy assistant to the US Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar, is a binding legal obligation for all parties and no single party or individual can escape from it.
Escobar also commented on his statement made a month ago that if the Government of Kosovo does not want to be part of the process for the formation of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority, then this will be discussed with “alternative partners”.
“The association is a legally binding international agreement. It obliges Kosovo, obliges Serbia, and obliges the EU that has led it, and [the US] which has supported it, it is our commitment and obligation. Therefore, a party and an individual cannot simply escape it on an arbitrary basis”, declared Escobar, during a press conference.
