The US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, has declared that the official visit of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabrial Escobar in Albania, reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for our country and its EU accession.
According to the US ambassador, Escobar put an emphasis on fighting corruption, impunity and the efforts to undermine democracy in the Western Balkans.
Kim also underlined that she is looking forward to “strengthening US-Albania relations: increasing our defense cooperation as NATO allies, creating more opportunities for trade and investment as well as work together on regional integration and global issues, especially as a member of UN Security Council in 2022”.
Yesterday, Gabriel Escobar held several meetings during his visit to Tirana, including with the leader of the opposition, Lulzim Basha, PM Edi Rama and foreign minister, Olta Xhacka.
