During the meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, the ambassadors of the EU member states approved the agreement previously reached between the Council of the EU and the European Parliament for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo.
This was announced by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union through an announcement on Twitter.
This is a formal step towards the finalization of this decision, which was agreed upon by the member countries on November 30.
This agreement must be voted on in the Committee for Justice and Civil Liberties (LIBE) in the European Parliament, and then in the plenary session. It is expected that this procedure will take place during the first part of next year.
A few days ago, representatives of the Parliament and the European Council reached an agreement on the liberalization of visas for Kosovo.
“The lifting of visas will come into force when the European travel system, ETIAS, is operational, in any case no later than January 1, 2024,” the EP announcement said.
