The President of the Women’s Forum of the European People’s Parties and former member of the EP, Doris Pack says that the decision of the US Department of State to declare the chief democrat Sali Berisha, non grata, is a political and not a legal decision.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Pack said that if there is evidence of corruption, the institutions should start investigations.

But Pack also underlined that a politician should not interfere in the affairs of justice.

“The members of the Democratic Party knew this decision of the US Department of State, but they decided to ignore it, it is their right to do so. UofS is not a law enforcement agency, but a political institution. Its decisions to deny someone entry are entirely political and not judicial.

If there is any evidence of corruption or wrongdoing, then the institutions should investigate it and bring it to justice. But no political person should interfere in the affairs of justice and tell them what to do. I am in contact with my friend Albana Vokshi and I am aware of what is happening”, she emphasized.
