The race for a parliamentary majority to form Albania’s new government is going to be a tight one, according to interpretations over the exit poll conducted by Euronews Albania and MRB on Sunday.
A crucial role still lies with the counting of votes throughout the country, according to election expert Blendi Çeka.
“The figures will need to be reflected in parliamentary seats according to districts. I think it will all depend on the system that turns votes into seats for each district,” he said.
Neritan Sejamini added that the role of the Social-Democratic Party of Tom Doshi may prove to be crucial in the forming of the new government given a projection for 1-2 seats for his party, respectively in Tirana and Shkoder.
“It’s not clear how to classify the SDP – opposition or majority – but its role in the final outcome will be considerable as results are expected to be very close. It will be a problematic situation; the victory will not be clear,” Sejamini said.
