Monday, October 3, is expected to begin with a busy parliamentary agenda for Albanian legislators.

The work will first start in the territorial reform commission at 9:00, where the opposition experts will publish their final report with proposals on a new administrative map.

The Democratic Party, which is represented in the commission by deputies who support Enkelejd Alibeaj, have already announced that they will propose increasing the number of municipalities from 61 to 92 and dividing them into 6 regions instead of 12 counties.

While the Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha, although without representatives in the territorial reform commission, has proposed the division into 95 municipalities and 5 regions.

These demands contradict the Socialists, who have declared that they stand by the current division of the territory into 61 municipalities, although recently the majority has agreed to extend the deadline of the commission until October 21, which means more room for negotiation.

While at 15:00 the discussions between the parties will continue in the electoral reform commission, which has not met since June.

In Monday’s meeting, the members of this commission are expected to determine the work calendar and hearings.
