Democratic MP Flutura Acka has resigned from all functions within the Democratic Party.
Acka was a member of DP’s leadership group as well as the head of the Appeals and Integrity Commission.
Through a long post on her personal Facebook page, Acka analyzed her letdown following DP’s performance at the March 6 by-elections.
The only way that ‘DP can pave the way for a fair and true election that would ultimately make it a united opposition force’, according to the Democratic MP is the resignation of both Basha and Berisha.
“I resign from my functions within the party…because I have never truly exercised them nor am I someone who has a clear political stature, but I do want to see the Opposition get back on track to a quick reformation process, so that it can give Albanians the hope they’ve been missing for so long, and so that we can rescue them from the grips of a putinist regime,” – wrote Acka.
Yesterday, the deputy chair of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, also presented his resignation from all political functions within the Democratic Party.
Gjekmarkaj called for the establishment of a commission that would prepare DP for an election within the party that would result in the appointment of a new party leader, following the disappointing results of the March 6 local by-election.
