The real estate market is turning into the most coveted business for foreign investors in Albania.
Over €60 million were invested for the purchase or sale of property in a time span of 3 months, a historic record for the cash flow that circulates in this sector.
The interest in the real estate market has given impetus to the increase of foreign investment flow during the last year, approaching the 2019 figures.
After real estate, a high inflow of investments from foreigners was seen in the mining industry as well as in banks and insurance companies in the third quarter of the year.
The Netherlands turned out to be the largest investor for the third year in a row with €139 million or 20% of cash flow, coming from this country in 2021.
Dutch investments are mostly related to Statkraft, the owner of Devoll Hydropower.
The second-largest investor is Italy, marking a return to normal post-pandemic activity.
Turkey also had a significant increase in 2021. The most important Turkish companies in Albania are the Çalik group, in banking and telecommunications, and the Kurum steel production company.
