Albania’s former general prosecutor Adriatik Llalla has been arrested in Rome.
The arrest of the former chief prosecutor came following an international police warrant issued by Interpol Tirana, after the Special Court of Appeals sentenced him to two years in prison.
A Rome court is expected to decide his extradition to Albania, where he will be serving prison time.
Llalla has been found guilty of concealing his wealth and failing to declare assets.
Llalla is the first former senior justice official to be sentenced to prison. In 2018, he was declared persona non-grata by the United States.
