The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime handed on Thursday a 10-month prison sentence to former deputy interior minister Rovena Voda.
Voda was arrested last year after receiving a bribe from someone who is eyeing a job in the ministry.
The court initially sentenced the former minister to 15 months in jail, but Voda will benefit from the abbreviated trial procedure and only serve 10 months.
The other two defendants who were working as an accessory to Voda were also sentenced to 10 months each.
Voda was found guilty by the court for ‘exerting unlawful command influence toward public functionaries’.
An investigation into the case revealed that Voda received €1,000, a smartphone, and a crate of fish in order to hire Florida Beu as a specialist in the ministry.
