The former Director of the Public Health Institution, Adrian Hoxha, declared that the decentralization of tests could help to track more cases and prevent a further escalation of the situation.
Hoxha praised the work done so far, but he criticized the decision to not allow other institutions to make tests, besides the Public Health Institution (PHI), which cannot deal alone with the current flux.
If the PHI opens a new testing center, according to Hoxha, they would be able to finalize 1000 tests a day.
The former Director said that the Tirana University Center has the human resources and the equipment to carry out more than 1000 tests a day.
He brings to attention the fact that hospitals must be very careful with the security measures since they host the most vulnerable patients.
As regards making tests in private hospitals, the former PHI Director said they have the necessary expertise, but there should be caution and not let prices be affected by the market.
“We can’t allow testing prices to be affected by the market value. The high demand would increase the price. The public service started at 120 EUR per test. Today it has gone down to 50 EUR, but it is still high”, Hoxha declared.
