New Democracy MEP Fredi Beleri has called on the European Union to ensure the protection of Greek minority rights as part of Albania’s EU accession process.

His statement was made during a session of the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions today.

He claimed that Greek minority rights in Albania continue to be violated, particularly regarding property rights.

He urged the EU to prioritize minority rights in negotiations between Albania and the European Union.

Beleri’s appeal adds to ongoing discussions about human rights and minority protections as Albania advances in EU membership talks.
