The Freedom Party has accused the Rama administration of arrogantly responding to the legitimate demands of university professors in regard to their salary increases.
In a statement to the press, former MP Erisa Xhixho said that the low number of students starting this academic year should be an alarm bell, while she emphasized that the government has not provided any help in its latest package of social resistance.
She called the demands of the lecturers legitimated, and said they there aren’t just poorly paid but funding for research in Albanian universities is currently last in the region.
“As for students, what support does this government have in this severe economic crisis that we are going through? Zero support for students in the latest Social Resilience package. For this government, they do not exist as a category to be supported. Students start this academic year in great financial difficulties. Directly affected by the increase in prices, thousands of students and their families have to face today’s rents starting from 300 euros, the increased price of food, the increased costs of transportation, the increased costs of books, clothing, etc.,” said Xhixho.
