From October 1st, financial aid will be doubled for women who are the heads of the household and have two children or more as well as the elderly over 65 who do not receive old age pension.
The government’s package envisions an increase in social assistance by 10% for families that are beneficiaries of the social assistance program.
“Over 64 000 families will benefit from these measures. This is a form of stable and long-term support, it is not just given for a month or two, but it will continue in the future”, said the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ogerta Manastirliu.
Part of the aid package is also an increase in the electricity support received by 12,000 people who suffer from disabilities.
Paraplegic and quadriplegic citizens as well as blind citizens of the first category will benefit from a raise in their government assistance which will go up from 2,000 ALL to 3,000 ALL. While persons who have been issued an official blind status of the second category will benefit from a raise in their aid which will go from 1,400 ALL to 2,400 ALL.
Support for electricity for persons with disabilities and quadriplegics and blind persons of category 1, was 2,000 Lek and will go up to 3,000 Lek.
Support for electricity for blind people of category 2 was 1,400 lek and will go up to 2,400 lek.
