Young people who just get their license will not be able to drive vehicles with high engine power.
The changes approved in the road code clearly sanction the motor power that the vehicle will have that can be used by people who have no experience in driving the vehicle.
The road safety expert also announced the engine power that will be used by drivers who have just received their license.
“It has become possible that new drivers of newly licensed vehicles for up to 2 years cannot drive vehicles with a capacity of 50kw/ton with internal combustion, hybrid vehicles with a capacity of 65kw/ton”, said Likaj.
The restriction of young drivers to use cars with high engine power aims to reduce the number of accidents, but the expert emphasizes that it will be the duty of the state institutions to make this article enforceable.
With the new changes, the license will no longer be renewed every 10 years for people up to the age of 50 and every 5 years after that age.
“Until the age of 70, the renewal of the driver’s license will be done every 15 years and after the age of 50, the renewal will be done by confirming with a medical card at the DPSHTRR”, said Likaj.
Another change in the Highway Code is the provision of the possibility that the suspension of the driving license can be converted by paying an amount that is twice the maximum administrative measure provided for the violated norm.
