At the closing rally of the Democratic Party and the Alliance for a Great Albania’s electoral campaign, German MEP Peter Beyer—a prominent figure from the CDU—expressed his strong support for Sali Berisha and his efforts toward Albania’s European Union integration.

Beyer praised Berisha as a “great leader” capable of securing Albania’s future in the EU and emphasized that he is the only politician who can lead the country toward European membership.

“I have strong faith in the future of this country and its people. There is a great man in this country, a great leader—this man, this great leader, is Doctor Sali Berisha,” said Beyer.

Holding up his own EU passport, Beyer made a symbolic statement:

“Albanians will have the chance to see their country as a member of the European Union in the near future.

This is my passport—it’s a passport of the European Union—and I guarantee you: Sali Berisha is the only leader in this country who can guarantee each of you a European passport.”
