The former Democratic Party MP Gerti Bogdani, said that Tirana’s mayor Erion Veliaj is the main one responsible for the illegal constructions in Tirana.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Bogdani said that Veliaj wants to blame Edi Rama, saying that it was allowed by the head of government, but he himself placed the signature in the fund.

“They cannot control the buildings in Tirana. The mayor, if he opens the permit window, means that the one the prime minister is talking about is in front of his office. You cannot say that the mayor does not have responsibility. The mayor is the one who manages the city, now if it was not Erion Veliaj’s fault, are you blaming Edi Rama?

I understand that the mayor and the people around him try and say that we can’t do anything about Rama’s decisions, it’s Rama’s permits, but it’s the mayor who has signed 100 construction permits within a month”, emphasized Bogdani.

Eight buildings and illegal additions built without permission in Tirana have been forwarded to the state. The National Council of the Territory has made the decisions, where only the building in the center known as “Eyes of Tirana” has voluntarily transferred the additional part that didn’t have a permission, the rest has been confiscated.

There are confiscations in the street ‘Qamil Guranjaku’, near the intersection with ‘Rrugen e Elbasani’, of a hotel with 6 floors, a building and additional floor without permission in two other buildings in Farka, floors 4 to 7 of a residential complex on “Elbasan Street” and three floors without permission in a building “Kont Urani Street”, between “Kavaja Street” and “Durres Street”.

The additional floors of a residential and service building on the street of “Myslym Shyr” were also confiscated.
