The director of the Institute for Media, Culture and Democracy, Jonila Godole commented on the results of the most recent poll conducted by MRB and Euronews Albania in the district counties of Fier and Elbasan, saying that she notices a distinct rise in the number of undecided voters.

According to her, Fier has traditionally been one of the highest supporters of SP, but an increase in the number of undecided voters is an alarming signal for the majority force.

“In all the previous elections in 2009, 2013 and 2017, Fier has had a higher inclination towards the left and SP, but what is immediately noticeable through this survey is an increase in the number of undecided voters. If we look at the charts, especially in Fier, we can see a large discontent to the point, where those that are undecided don’t even know how to choose, so the majority would say they choose none. And if we take into consideration the fact that this district has always voted for SP, what I see, is a big disappointment with SP so the opposition could be taking advantage and winning some extra votes. What I see here, is a face-off between SP and SMI, who will take the votes of whom,” she added.

Whereas in Elbasan, Godole is expecting a rise in popularity for the opposition.

“By the look of things, things look good for the opposition in Elbasan but the high number of undecided voters is worrisome, as well as understandable to a certain degree. I see a chance for an increase in the support for the opposition and in terms of the SP, I don’t exactly see a chance but more of a question regarding whether or not they’ll be able to retain the same state of things,” she said.
