The ban on gatherings, as a measure taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, now has a deadline until when it will be implemented.

The Ministry of Health changed the order signed on the 17 of November, putting an end to the current measures on March 25. The order, signed this month, following a meeting with the Technical Experts Committee, modifies the phrase from “until further notice” to “until the 3 of March 2021”.

The decision was published today in the Official Gazette.

The changes come following a request made by the Constitutional Court dating a week ago, seeking to clarify the duration of several pandemic-related restrictions.

The court reviewed a lawsuit filed by the Republican Party claiming that the ban on gatherings and political activities is a violation of rights.

March 25 coincides with the start of the electoral campaign for the general elections due on April 25.
