The Kosovo Police have said that they have identified the two people involved in the hand grenade incident in the late hours of Monday in North Mitrovica.
As a result of the grenade explosion, two people were injured, one seriously, but out of danger for life.
Seven cars were also damaged in this incident, writes Radio Free Europe.
The Deputy Director of Police for the North region, Veton Elshani, has confirmed for Radio Free Europe that the two identified persons were searched in their homes for interview, but were not found there.
“It is believed that this conflict was the result of previous problems between these people”, said Elshani in a written answer.
The director of the Hospital Clinical Center in North Mitrovica, Zlatan Ellek, told to Radio Free Europe earlier that a patient, with the initials N.V, is in resuscitation due to injuries sustained from an explosive device.
But, like the Police said, Ellek also confirmed that his life is out of danger.
“All diagnostic procedures and consultations with other specialists are still being done. During the day, it will be decided whether he will continue treatment at this center, or whether he will need treatment at another tertiary health institution at the level of Serbia.”
He said that the second injured person had to be hospitalized in orthopedics, but he left the hospital voluntarily.
The Police have said that the incident happened at 11:50 p.m. on January 15, when three people of Serbian nationality – two of whom were injured – came out of a bar known as “Bishevac” in North Mitrovica and upon leaving, a car approached them, from which a hand grenade was thrown.
Even in the past in North Mitrovica – a municipality inhabited by a majority of Serbs – there have been incidents with explosive devices.
