The Albanian Public Transit Union has decided to cut down on the number of buses currently operating in the country.
The decision was announced today and will include bringing down the number of buses in circulation by 50%, starting on Monday.
Rising oil prices were mentioned as the main cause for this reduction.
If a regular bus route would be administered by 16 buses, starting from today, only 8 buses will do the job – at least until later notice.
In addition, the head of the Public Transit Association, Dashnor Mema, declared that consultation is underway to bring up the price of bus tickets from 40 ALL to 80 ALL.
