Health budget for 2025, Koçiu: Exceeds 1 billion euros

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, has presented to the Labor, Social Affairs and Health Commission, the budget of the Ministry of Health for the year 2025, which is expected to be 103 billion and 375 million ALL.

“For the first time it exceeds 1 billion euros, it is 5% higher than in 2024. This budget is an important step in the transformation of the health and social protection sectors in Albania and aims for sustainable support for the improvement of services and universal health coverage”, said Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection.

Kociu promised that the improvement of salaries and working conditions for health professionals will continue, including salary increases for doctors, nurses and all other health professionals, while he talked about priorities in health.

“This budget supports 7.6 million visits to primary care, and the commitment to the fight against dangerous diseases such as diabetes. Moreover, the treatment of 317,000 patients in second level hospitals throughout the country will be supported”, said Koçiu.

“This budget aims to further strengthen the health system and social protection, providing more services and support for Albanian citizens,” said Albana Koçiu.

Investments in health infrastructure, such as the construction of the Regional Hospital in Korça, the reconstruction of other hospitals, and the renewal of medical equipment for hospitals throughout the country, are foreseen in the 2025 budget.
