Thoma Gellci, the general director of the Albanian Radio National Television (RTSH), lost a bid to get a more lenient punishment from Albania’s High Court.
Albania’s top court upheld the previous decision of the First Instance Court of Appeal.
Gellci will stay behind bars until investigations conclude.
The former general director of RTSH was arrested a few months ago, over a fraudulent tender race, and abuse of office.
In 2018, he signed a tender worth 86 million Albanian Lek to purchase equipment for the public agriculture TV channel.
Investigations revealed serious legal violations with public procurement procedures, landing Gellci a charge for abuse of office.
