Director of the Files Authority, Genta Sula, said during an interview for “Now” with Erla Mehilli that one of the main concerns of the Albanian public is exactly how many files went missing and continue to be to this day.
“What is known so far, is that files have been destroyed on a regular basis, as has been the case in every other archive, not everything was kept and saved. Archives were only kept for two purposes, firstly if there was a historical importance and secondly for operational purposes”, said Sula.
In addition, Sula also said that during the change of regimes, the files of those persons who were involved in political crimes were destroyed and they were no longer considered political crimes.
However, Sula also explained that there are 2.2 kilometers of materials that enable the implementation of the law, so people can be informed about what there is and what there is not.
According to her, the available information also shows how the State Security functioned at the time.
